Optical Beam Detector
In large, open spaces where conventional smoke detectors are not suitable for placement, optical beam detectors, or FDIs, are installed.
Description
In large, open spaces where conventional smoke detectors are not suitable for placement, optical beam detectors, or FDIs, are installed. This is accomplished by directing a beam of visible or invisible infrared light across a specific operational area. The detector detects a drop in light and sounds an alarm if the smoke is obstructing the beam’s path. Because smoke will not quickly reach the ceiling-mounted detectors, these detectors are particularly helpful in spaces with high ceilings, such as auditoriums, atriums, and warehouses. Additionally, they are impervious to false alarms brought on by dust or temperature changes. Optical beam detectors are the best safety equipment to use in challenging environments because of their ease of installation and extensive coverage.
