Description
An essential fire safety precaution is a foam fire suppression system, which uses foam to extinguish the fire and block the oxygen that fuels the flames. Usually composed of foam concentrate, water, and air, it is churned to produce a foam that is used for burning. Because it creates a layer that prevents re-ignition, it is particularly helpful for fires caused by flammable materials like oil, chemicals, gases, etc. Foam systems are typically found in locations such as refineries, chemical plants, and airplane hangars. In order to reduce heat re-ignition, the foam also insulates the surface beneath the flame.
